What are good things to wear for clubbing events for men?

I’m going to my first clubbing event which is held by one of the university social clubs in which they rent out a whole place for the clubbing event next weekend. This is my first event and I am wondering what I should wear. I’m not really social although I might look physically more like a social person but I still try to make social events to meet new people. There weren’t any instructions and it just said dress to impress.

….how DOES a "social person" physically look?……you say there "weren't any INSTRUCTIONS?" but they said" dress to impress"….what kind of instructions do you need?……lol……you're a big boy now….."you're not really social" but you "still try to make social events to meet new people"….WTF?……do you realize what you just said?……so what?….you're a sociopath masochist who hates people but punishes himself by going to social events?…….my head hurts….ROFL……take a friend who is a female to help you find something to wear…make sure she is "one of the sharper pencils in the box"…….any event that TELLS me to dress to impress…..doesn't really impress ME …but that is the whole premise of these "dog & pony" shows…..the place is guaranteed to be full of "phonys" but go and try to be genuine anyway……..there may be some other genuine people there also……

Brampton, Ontario Cultural Events in 2007

Brampton Ontario has the distinction of being one of the fastest growing municipalities in Canada, with over 110,000 people expected to move to the city in 2007! The City of Brampton credits its growth in part to the municipal focus on the importance of culture. Here are some of the cultural events planned in Brampton in 2007, many of them sponsored and organized by the Brampton Arts Council.

Throughout the Year

Running throughout the year are various exhibitions of still life put together as a group effort by the Visual Arts Brampton school of painting. The exhibitions run from the first of each month and are scheduled to last the entire month at Shopperâ??s World in the Brampton Mall (499 Main St. S.) during regular mall hours.

In addition to the Visual Art Brampton organization, several major cultural contributors offer demonstrations of their art all year long. Groups include the Brampton Symphony Orchestra, the Brampton Folk Singers, the Brampton Lyric Opera, and the Brampton Folk Club.

The newly opened Rose Theatre in Brampton is expected to begin fulfilling its promise in a big way in 2007, the first entire year of operations. Major events include concerts, recitations, and a special Musical Theatre performance of L.M. Montgomeryâ??s Anne of Green Gables, which kicks off in March.

Special Events

The City of Bramptonâ??s downtown core also features several series of special events which usually begin taking place when the weather turns warmer. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June to September offer music tailored to suit, with inspirational offerings from the Inspirational Impressions group on Tuesdays and a free concert held

each Thursday. In addition, the last Friday of every month offers an installment of a concert series from the Brampton Folk Club.

Running from July to September is the Flower Cityâ??s Annual Shakespeare in the Square Festival, put on by ACT Productions. This event is admission based on donation, and all are invited and encouraged to attend. There is a performance every weekday from 7:30 pm at City Hall.

The month of February is also an important one culturally in Brampton, with the kickoff of the Brampton Indie Arts Festival on the 9th and running through to the 17th.

One of the biggest cultural events in any Canadian city is the celebration of the countryâ??s birthday on July 1st, and Brampton is no exception. Festivities to celebrate Canadaâ??s birthday are held throughout the city, with a huge celebration around city hall and at various parks. The festivities include bands, booths, presentations, and performances that celebrate all aspects of Canada, from our multicultural heritage to our burgeoning arts. Donâ??t forget about the annual fireworks display!

Bramptonâ??s cultural vibrancy is a major attraction and benefit to the city both in terms of financial and population growth. With the sheer number of events happening, residents are sure to find something that suits them!

Lost - Synchronised events -UPDATED AND EXTENDED

I have updated my original Lost Plane Crash video after many comments about parts I had not put in, most notably Charlie’s perspective. Loads of other videos have popped up since of people’s edits including him, so I guess I’m just playing catch-up now really. I have also extended the piece to include the aftermath of the crash from all the characters perspectives we’ve seen so far. It ends with Ben and Juliet going to see Mikhail, and watching footage about the crash on the television. I think that is as much as we currently know about events of that day. Again, I’m sure there’ll be updates as the series develops, at which point I’ll try to do another update.

What Makes Emotional Healing So Hard?

Copyright 2005 Mark Myhre

When I was 5 years old our family moved to Starkville,
Mississippi. My dad had secured a position as a research
scientist at Miss. State Univ. that was simply too good to pass
up.

Starkville was a small town like many other small towns across
America. Life was slow and safe and predictable. All in all, not
such a bad place to live.

For the next 12 years I was a Starkvillian. Like so many other
young boys I spent most of my free time exploring the world from
the comfort of a bicycle seat.

Life was full of adventures. Looking back now, it resembled a
series of Norman Rockwell paintings.

But it wasn’t always so idealistic. In fact, for over 20 years
after leaving that small town I hated everything to do with
Starkville. I called it a nightmare existence in a God-forsaken
town.

So why do you suppose I hated it?

I Focused On The Negative

Like children everywhere, my wonder years consisted of good
events, bad events, and many mediocre and neutral events. Good
times that made me feel good. Bad times that made me feel bad.
And many events stirred little emotional reaction at all.

However, my problem was that I discounted the good events, while
elevating the bad ones.

The painful events on my past became like anchors - the pillars
of the past. The defining moments of my life.

Certain events would happen, and rather than simply feeling the
pain and moving on, I would suppress and repress those painful
emotions.

Paradoxically, while I denied the feelings, I elevated the
events. I would take a painful situation and make it much worse
than it really was.

I Embellished My Past

How do you embellish a painful past? Intentionally exaggerate
its stature and importance. Like a playwright constructing a
play, I would add drama for the effect it created.

I would set the stage. Get the lighting just right. Play
suspenseful music in the background. Create a prologue -

“The story you are about to hear is true. Only the names have
been changed to protect the innocent…”

Like one of those old Dragnet TV shows!

I built it up any way I could. I made it sacred.

And no matter what, I could *NOT* feel the feelings of those
past events and let them go! I needed those unresolved emotions
to breathe life into an otherwise-dead past.

I spent way too much of my time giving CPR to a corpse of the
past. Ever given CPR? It’ll wear you out! It’s hard to do it for
very long; it’s just too much work.

Imagine doing it for decades.

I defined my life by those highly selective events of the past
that were being kept alive ONLY by my emotional energy.

I Was Giving My Power To The Past

Thoughts and feelings are the very source of your power. Your
power - your ability and willingness to act - comes about
because of the constant stream of your thoughts and feelings.

Thoughts and feelings are constantly and consistently springing
forth into your consciousness.

A stream of thoughts. A stream of feelings. Together they are
the source of your power.

If you’re using those thoughts and feelings to hold onto the
past, then you’ll have less power available to you now. Power
that could be used to heal your emotions instead becomes
diverted into holding the past in place.

I Built My Past Into A Frankenstein’s Monster

Out of that handful of painful events I created a backbone. From
the backbone I grew a skeleton. Surrounding the skeleton I grew
muscles and skin and internal organs. I gave it a heart. I gave
it a voice.

All that growth required conscious effort on my part. I had to
keep reminding myself of those painful events.

“I really was wronged.”

“I really was shamed.”

“I really was abused.”

Building them up and fleshing them out took a lot of my power.
But it was worth it. I got to feel like a victim. I got to hide
in my self pity. I was entitled. Hey, I EARNED the right to
engage in any errant behavior I chose!

I earned the right to blame, to struggle, to manipulate and
punish anybody I wanted. I earned my righteous arrogance because
of my embellished pain of the past.

I was powerless as a result, but that’s okay. I earned the right
to be weak by all the effort I was expending to try to keep the
past alive.

***

I took the best of me and gave it to a past that didn’t even
exist.

***

It takes constant effort to keep the past alive. You can’t just
set it and forget it - like a thermostat on the wall. You have
to keep remembering it. You have to keep using today’s power to
reinforce the imprisonment of yesterday’s power.

We Invest In The Past

The past is over, yet so often our power remains trapped in the
emotional investment we’ve made in certain painful events of
that dead past.

The past is over.

But the very power we need to break free of those memories is
instead being diverted into a much more sinister goal. We invest
a lot of time and energy creating a Frankenstein’s monster of
the past, and it’s become too big to handle.

The power you need to heal the past is instead being used to try
to keep it alive. It becomes a tangled mess.

You can’t heal the past until you get more power.

You can’t get more power until you heal the past.

So what’s the answer? First you heal a little bit, and you
retrieve a little power. Then, in your empowered state you heal
a little more and get back a little more power. It happens layer
by layer.

And it all begins with a willingness to change.

Brain-Racking Events of Fourth July

A 4th July party is a great opportunity to share a good time with your child and with their friends group. Remember, you need to have a Hugh selection of games and activities to fill up those 3 hours of party full of fun and excitement. Some party games tips are listed below to have a great 4th July party.

The great outdoors is the ideal place for this next game which is a trifle wet. Put to float a large number of small corks in a tub of water. It is well to use a tub or at least a large dishpan so that the corks cannot be easily pushed against the bottom. Give a contestant a pin and tell him to spear as many corks as he can in three minutes. The cork must not be touched by hand, neither may it touch the sides of the pan while being harpooned.

If your party is large and your tub ample, two players can be spearing at the same time. But don’t pass out pins to the players until they are ready for their turn at the tub, or some rascally lad will be sure to harpoon a guest or two.

In a free-for-all picnic spirit let “Bombs” be the next game. Once again divide your guests into two groups of equal number. Have the two teams line up facing each other, about eight or ten feet apart. Give each player a toy balloon and when the game starts, the player at the head of each line must inflate his balloon until it bursts. The next in line then does the same, and so on down the line. No cheating is allowed. The second player must wait to blow up his balloon until the first man’s balloon has popped. The group first popping all its balloons wins. This breath-taking game provides plenty of noise to satisfy the most noise-thirsty.

By this time even the liveliest will be ready to sit down for a quiet game. Provide each one with a card and pencil and announce that ten minutes will be allowed for the players to list as many states in the United States as they can. Even fairly young children are familiar with most of the states in the Union and will enjoy the contest. If your group is unusually sharp, ask them to list the capitals of each state.

During this brain-racking event, you will have an excellent opportunity to set out the picnic table. Truly American food will be welcome at this Picnic Party, especially if there is plenty of it. So bring on the hot dogs and toasted buns, a big bowl of potato salad, or potato chips for those who prefer them, pickles, and perhaps a casserole of hot baked beans. Finish off this menu with “pinwheel” cake, commonly recognized as a slice of jelly roll, and ice-cream cones.

For fun and activities you can have games which is related to the Country, history, some great man of America etc and also add some patriotic music for better result. Do not forget to include a firework at the end of the party.

Events And People In Basketball

The father of basketball, Dr. James Naismith came up with the game in 1892 and the first game was played in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania on April 8 1893 between the New Brighton YMCA and the Geneva College.
The game was very popular and by 1914 as many as 360 colleges boasted basketball teams. In 1939, the first NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship tournament was held which was won by the University of Oregon.

The formation of Pro basketball in 1896 came about from a dispute between YMCA team members and officials and ended in the members forming a professional team that played for money. In 1898, the NBL (National Basketball League) was formed and produced the first basketball stars - Ed Wachter and Barney Sedran.

The first two professional basketball teams to achieve success were the Buffalo Germans and the Celtics but during the 1930’s favorites included the New York Renaissance and the Harlem Globetrotters. During this time, womens basketball was also popular and produced great players such as Babe Didrikson and Alline Banks Sprouse.

In 1940, the first college basketball game was shown on TV. This game was played between Pittsburgh and Fordham at Madison Square Garden, and catapulted basketball into a national sensation. Since then basketball has been one of the most watched sports and in fact the March Madness, when almost 350 American colleges compete for the NCAA basketball crown is the most watched event in the United States.

In Pro basketball during the 1940’s and 50’s the Minneapolis Lakers were a huge favorite of many winning 5 NBA championship titles and producing starts like Bob Cousy and Bob Pettit. But during the late 1950’s up until 1969, the Celtics had the court winning 11 NBA titles (8 f them right in a row). During this era favorite players included Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin of the Philadelphia Warriors.

During 1963 to 1975 The University of California, Los Angeles was in the spotlight winning 10 national championships, including seven in a row. Some of the great players of this UCLA team include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jamaal Wilkes, Bill Walton, Gail Goodrich and Marques Johnson.

In 1967 the American Basketball Association (ABA) was formed and many will remember one of the satart players Julius Erving as well as their red white and blue basketballs. The ABA only lasted until 1976 when it broke up and many of the teams joined the NBA.

In the 1960’s, womens basketball introduced the 5 player full court format and made dribbling fully legal but it wasn’t until 1985 that the Basketball Hall of Fame began inducting woman coaches and players. Some of the first women to get this honor include Carol Blazejowski, Ann Meyers, Cheryl Miller; Nancy Lieberman-Cline and Anne Donovan.

In the late 1970’s start players like Larry Bird of Indiana State University and Michigan State Universities Magic Johnson emerged and the late 1980s saw such major players as Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman. But perhaps the most beloved player of all is Michael Jordan who led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships in the 1990s.

Gambling events basics

Gambling has always been a tabooed subject in the middle class
households because of the adverse sociological impacts. The
great epics of the east include stories about the kings loosing
their whole dynasties in the game of gambling. Thought he whole
practice is scathed, but the charm of the game has not ended
basically because of the quick rewards associated with it. It
still attracts the poorest of the masses and the richest of the
riches to the doorsteps of the casinos, which mark almost the
whole world. The economic contribution of the gambling and
gaming to the GDP’s of many countries is really high.

The auspices of gambling extend beyond the normal card and board
games. The roulette, the high rollers and the other device-based
games are also a part and parcel of the gambling phenomenon. The
Internet also has been a major force in spreading the gambling
games across the globe. Tagging gambling as a sport will and has
raised many critical remarks, as the spirit of the game cannot
be attached to the gambling games. The trickery will always be
attached to the gamblers. Because of this the habit of gambling
is also prohibited by law in many countries.

Another way of looking at things is the way the gambling events
are being organized for raising charity money. Raffles are also
a kind of gambling but they are normally used to raise the money
for the poor and the needy. The gambling not confined to the
American states but it cuts across all societies and cultures
equally. The events of gambling takes place internationally.
Also the casinos are spread evenly on the world map. Gambling is
now being attached to the luxury and glamour and is seen at the
most exotic of places. The glitterati moving towards these
places show that the games have become a status symbol for the
high classes of the society.

Sports betting and Internet gambling are the two most prevalent
mediums for the aspiring players to begin. Gambling has taken
the form of an industry and the stakes in the area are
increasing progressively. The political and social impact of
gambling are being discussed by the sociologists across the
world and the implications are being recorded to decide the fate
of such a so-called social evil.

Although the gambling in its strict sense means betting and
winning at the cards table, but the meaning of the word is being
extended by adding the bullfights and the dog and cock fights in
the gambling ambit. They remain a question unanswered. This is
because of the simple reason that gambling is now associated
with status of the people and thus Bullfights etc. are
considered to be street sports rather then gambling. Although
their nature remains essentially the same.

Gambling has seen as a rising industry after the amalgamation of
the practice with traveling and leisure. The hot destinations in
North America provide exotic locations for the rich and the
famous to dole out millions at the mercy of lady luck. In other
words gambling has glamorized getting bankrupt. Nevertheless,
the practice has seen the changing times and history has it that
it dominated many kingdoms. Thus we can safely presume that as
long as the mankind exists gambling will breathe with it.

What were the most important events in the 70's that significantly changed Canada?

All events must have happend in Canada. Can be a person or event. Please explain your answer.

The events brought on by the FLQ in Quebec were important - but as History has already shown us, there was no Quebec to "liberate" for the "Quebec Liberation Front." Canada was, and still is, a democracy. A democracy that has allowed the people of Quebec to hold two referendums on the status of the Province of Quebec. Fifty precent of the people who voted chose to remain a province of Canada each time, and no doubt they do not need "liberation" from the English language either.

Hosting the 1976 Olympics also helped change Canada- oddly enough they were in Monteal, QUEBEC.
